Information sheet: Genetically modified organisms
Resource: PDF
Age: KS3, KS4

Information sheets for teachers and pupils address the danger of genetically-modified crops (GM) and the health risks of eating GM-produced food.
Genetic modification or genetic engineering involves changing the genes of living organisms like plants and animals. In agriculture, a huge number of crops have been genetically modified - including soya, maize, oilseed rape and cotton. The Soil Association argues that GM crops pose a potential health risk and scientific research shows that they are unsafe and should not be used for food.
