Tick off Bronze, Silver and Gold for... Holding a summer fair

28 June 2011 – Have you held or are you thinking of holding a summer fair? Organising a food-themed event for parents and the local community is a great way to involve parents in cooking or growing activities as well as sell food from the school kitchen and/or garden. And you could find yourself ticking off ALL of the Bronze criteria for Community and Partnerships.

Criteria

• Bronze: We hold an annual event on a food theme for our pupils, parents and the wider community.
• Bronze: We actively encourage our pupils and their parents to grow and cook their own produce at home.
• Bronze: Our pupils share Food for Life Partnership learning with local schools, the wider community and other partners.
• Silver: We hold events to involve parents and/or the wider community in growing and cooking activities.
• Gold: Our parents can buy or collect organic and/or local produce at our school, or we direct them to alternative local outlets.
