29 November 2011 – Do you offer taster sessions for parents? Offering parents opportunities to taste the great food you’re serving will dispel myths about soggy semolina and help increase school meal take up.

This information sheet on packed lunches offers guidance on how to discourage parents from including unhealthy snacks in their lunchboxes, which is one of the criteria for achieving Silver.

Potterhanworth Church of England Primary School in Lincolnshire arranged for people to sample school meals at a parents evening, which worked extremely well. Parents had something to do as they waited for their appointments, and they didn’t have to come to school especially for a school meal tasting session. Read the blog.
