Commission our work from 2012
We are delighted to share the news that the Food for Life Partnership (FFLP) has been awarded a further £1million from the Big Lottery to carry on its vital work with schools and communities across England. This funding will help us continue to grow our hugely successful national programme over the next year. We already have over 4,300 schools enrolled and an incredible 500,000 Food for Life accredited school meals are served every day.
This coming year we will work to secure the partnership’s future by developing a locally commissioned programme. The FFLP’s power to deliver across the public health agenda has been recognised by our independent evaluation. We are already working with three local authorities – Lincolnshire, Devon and Calderdale – to tackle the causes of childhood obesity in their areas and are in negotiation with more than twenty others to extend this pioneer group.
Lynne McNiven, Assistant Director of Public Health for NHS Lincolnshire who recently commissioned the partnership said, ‘I see the programme as an integral part of the overarching prevention strategy which underpins our life course approach to childhood obesity in Lincolnshire. They deliver an excellent programme that schools love and that is backed up by a sound evidence base.’
In the words of long-time supporter Jamie Oliver, “The expertise and the passion and the whole school approach that the Food for Life Partnership has is absolutely leading the way at the front line of the fight against obesity – end of story.”
The Food for Life Partnership can offer unique, tailored solutions for local areas. Our programme delivers real, evidence-based, impact in schools and communities across the country focusing on four key areas:
- children's health
- tackling inequalities
- improving education
- local enterprise and sustainability
We are keen to work with new partners, in particular to extend the programme in areas of significant disadvantage. If you would like to explore what value the Food for Life Partnership can bring to the table in your area then we would be delighted to discuss working in partnership with you.
