Louise Rosen and pupils from St John the Baptist School

That the Food for Life Partnership exists to support, challenge us to do better, and champion our achievements is wonderful, it is having fantastic impact on our school.

Supporting your school

The Food for Life Partnership programme and award scheme is a practical way to help your pupils be healthy and to involve parents in the life of the school, with all the benefits that this brings for pupil attainment. It links directly to the National Curriculum and to a range of diverse initiatives with which many schools are already involved. But the Food for Life Partnership isn’t just one more scheme to cram into the school curriculum; it is a mechanism to support and bring together these often disparate initiatives. The Partnership helps schools gain recognition in all of them. Schools that are already involved in the scheme have highlighted value-added benefits including:

  • Improved pupil wellbeing, health and learning
  • Improved pupil participation, pupil voice and enhanced pupil leadership
  • Improved skills development around growing, cooking, enterprise and healthy living
  • Improved school meal services demonstrated by higher take-up
  • Better and more creative links between schools and their local communities
  • Support for other national school initiatives
  • Reduced climate impact of food served in schools
