School Food: Healthy Children, Healthy Minds
22 Sep 2010 |
Westminster, London, , WC2N
Eating a balanced diet during the school day is crucial in improving the health and academic attainment of pupils. A report carried out by Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) last year, showed that the performance of pupils eating Jamie Oliver's school dinners improved in science and English and absenteeism due to ill-health fell by 15 per cent. This forum will give delegates the opportunity to discuss future challenges facing schools and local authorities in providing healthy school meals and the impact of possible budget cuts. Sessions will look at the impact of the nutrient-based standards and how schools and local authorities can continue to meet the requirements and increase school meal take-up. Delegates will also have the opportunity to ask leading professionals questions to implementing healthy food in their schools and network with local and central government and third sector organisations, working together to promote healthy living in children and young people. EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT OFFER: 10% off all registrations received by 5pm Friday 21st May 2010. BOOK TODAY and save on your place. Available to public / third sector organisations only.
