Roast dinner day

29 Sep 2010 |

West Midlands

The Food for Life Partnership is inviting every school in England to take part in a Roast Dinner Day on Wednesday 29 September, an event which could be a Guinness world record breaker. The aim of the Roast Dinner Day is to celebrate the launch of the Food for Life Partnership Cooks’ Network, a network of 16 pioneering school cooks, and the fantastic work schools across England are doing to transform their food culture. There’s also a chance that the event will achieve a new world record for the ‘most schools to serve the same school dinner on the same day’, or beat the existing Guinness World Record for the ‘largest simultaneous roast dinner’, currently standing at 1,362 people. To take part in the event, all schools have to do is serve a locally-sourced/organic roast dinner and invite parents and the local community into the school to enjoy the meal. Partcipating schools might like to have a go at serving a Bronze standard meal, which means that it should be seasonal and 75% freshly prepared. The dinner may even include produce from the school’s own garden. If you would like to take part in this record breaking attempt, email Natasha Moseley, our events officer, at fflp [at] foodforlife [dot] org [dot] uk. Alternatively, you can call her on 0117 987 4582.
