Food for Life Scotland
Food for Life Scotland aims to make good food the easy choice for everyone. We focus on the power of public food and its potential to have a positive impact on health, the environment, and the local economy.
We work in partnership with public sector catering teams. Our key focus is on getting more fresh, sustainable, local food on to school meal plates across Scotland. we do this by supporting local authorities to achieve the Food for Life served Here award for their school meals service. And we’re also trialling how we can extend the award to new public sector settings through the Food for Life Scotland Public Sector Expansion Pilot in Glasgow.
School meals across Scotland
- The Food for Life Scotland team is funded by Scottish Government to work with local authorities across Scotland to get fresh local and sustainable food onto school plates by supporting them to achieve the Food for Life Served Here award for their school meals service.
Public sector sites in Glasgow
- The Food for Life Scotland Public Sector Expansion Pilot is currently funded by Scottish Government to bring Food for Life Served Here meals to other public sector settings across Glasgow, including the NHS, prisons, care homes, further and higher education settings, and council-run leisure and culture facilities. The aim is that the project will scale to other areas in Scotland in the future.
