Food for Life schools are supported to provide fresh, well-sourced and nutritious meals and improve their overall lunchtime experience. In Food for Life schools children, adults and teachers understand the importance of good nutrition and where their food comes from through practical cooking and growing activities, and farm visits.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, access to and understanding of healthy, good food has been more important than ever. Here are some resources to get you started on your good food journey. Created by experts these are suitable for home or class learning in different size groups, mixed ages and abilities, with clear learning outcomes.
Here are few to get you started:
Free membership for schools
We are offering free memberships to schools across the country, until the October half term. This includes access to our expert created resources. Find out more about what membership means schools and children – don’t forget to tell your school.
Free School Meals
No child should go hungry.
Throughout this time of uncertainty for parents, schools and indeed children themselves, Food for Life has been working hard to ensure good food is on the plate for all, and especially those most in need.
We joined forces with other organisations, and with a little help from Marcus Rashford, we were thrilled the Government reversed their decision and announced the provision of free school meals over the summer holidays.
However, more work must be done to ensure all children have access to free school meal, and we won’t rest with our lobbying and campaigning work.
