Roast Dinner Day

On Wednesday 11th November, Food for Life is celebrating Roast Dinner Day to bring people together over one of the nation’s favourite meals; the great roast dinner!

Roast Dinner Day falls during National School Meals Week and is the perfect opportunity to get more kids eating healthy, hot lunches. It’s a great opportunity to showcase school meals that are tasty as well as nutritious. But you don’t need to be a school to get involved, Roast Dinner Day can be celebrated anywhere – Early Years settings, care homes, community groups or in your own home.

Research suggests that only 1% of packed lunches meet school nutritional standards, but most pupils are still not opting for a school lunch. We’re encouraging everyone involved to connect with their community safely, you could video call with a member of your local community and share a meal from a distance. Or you could write to a local care home and ask residents about their memories of sharing a roast dinner. Or you could share food stories from around the world while enjoying your tasty lunch.

Get involved!

Schools, nurseries, caterers and anyone else who’d like to get involved can register through the Food for Life Get Togethers registration form and receive a free event pack here.
