Washingborough Academy

School Award Status: Gold

Gold schools are hubs of good food culture in their community, actively involving parents and community groups in cooking and growing activity. School meals are at least 75% unprocessed, 50% local and 30% organic, and more than 70% of pupils are choosing to eat school meals. Every pupil learns to cook and has the opportunity to grow food, and groups of pupils are actively involved in the life of a local farm.

Served Here Status: Gold

This school serves a menu that has been awarded a Gold Food for Life Served Here award.

A Gold award means that the menu served meets all of our Bronze criteria plus the school has taken steps to focus more on ethical, environmentally friendly and local ingredients and make healthy eating easier. The school and its caterer have gone even further in all of these areas and exceeded the expected levels for a Silver award to earn a Gold Food for Life Served Here award. They have been recognised as one of the highest achieving of our award holders.
