Gardening Club and Composting

The children in gardening club have really enjoyed planting, looking after and harvesting their own vegetables.

This week, the children were very exctied to harvest their kale.  They took it home to share with their families, and were sharing ideas of how it could be used.  They liked the idea of putting it in a smoothie!

They also planted broad beans, cabbage and parsley this week, which were kindly donated by a master composter that we are working with.  He came into school to teach all of the children about composting, and set up each class with a compost caddy.  We have a rota of 'little rotters' who ensure that the caddies are being used and emptied into the compost bin regularly.  The students feel empowered from taking positive environmental action.
