Food for Life’s Roast Dinner Day - celebrating cooks and caterers

Every year in November, school and communities celebrate Roast Dinner Day, as cooks and caterers serve one of the nation’s favourite hot meals – the great roast dinner.
This year is, of course, a little different.
Food for Life Served Here caterers are working hard to provide hot meals wherever possible, however, we understand that service has been challenging with Covid-19 measures.
Ahead of this year’s Roast Dinner Day, we hear from Food for Life co-founder, Jeanette Orrey, who shares her love for a delicious roast dinner, and a message of support to Food for Life cooks and caterer.
“Many children will say that the roast dinner is their favourite meal, with a fruit crumble and custard for dessert. Well, that’s mine too!
This Roast Dinner Day (Wed 11th November) provides an opportunity to showcase what Food for Life catering teams do best every single day - feeding children healthy, nutritious, locally sourced meals. Making roast dinners from scratch, using fresh ingredients courtesy of our fantastic local farmers and producers, is a testament to the very best of hot school food.
What’s more, taking part in Roast Dinner Day means you’re also joining LACA’s National School Meals Week (9th-13th November).
I am really going to miss visiting schools this year to celebrate with you all, but I look forward to seeing you again soon.
