Food for Life's EU project

The Food for Life Training Team are involved in a number of projects to help support FFL schools engage with climate, health and nature. We are developing new training programmes with partners in nine other European countries. This enables us to share best practice and learn from the work being done in other countries.

Erasmus+ funded programmes

The Food for Life Training Team are leading two EU-funded Erasmus programmes which aim to develop trans-national training and support for teachers.

Planet Friendly Schools

A partnership led by the Food for Life Training Team with organisations in nine countries. It will offer online resources for teachers, NGO staff and any other individuals involved in developing climate-friendly projects and educational activities in school. From school farmers’ markets to growing vegetables and planting bee gardens, a range of best-practice activities from all nine countries will be promoted.

The programme will include an e-learning platform presenting nine themed modules about practical projects in-school, working with the community and multi-school national projects (like Food for Life). It will include case studies, interactive elements, video and useful web-links. The Planet Friendly School project is sharing best practice examples from the countries that we are working with, for example this innovative cooking on the farm project called Haver til Maver (Gardens to Bellies) in Denmark.

Digital Food Education

Following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on education and online working, we are working with partners in Austria, Czech Republic and Slovenia to help move our food training offers online. All partner are involved in training teachers on school food education projects, we are creating a range of resources to help support a move to more online learning. We are working with Washingborough Academy, a Gold FFL school in Lincolnshire to showcase their pioneering work with integrating food and farming into the curriculum, and to test new ways of working digitally through this programme.
