Food for Life Supply Chain+

Food for Life Supply Chain+ offers producers a reliable and fair route to market; and caterers a more resilient, efficient and transparent approach to the procurement of sustainable and nutritious food.

£2.5bn is spent each year on UK public sector food and drink. Very little is known about what’s that spent on and where it came from.
Food for Life Supply Chain+

What can Food for Life Supply Chain+ deliver for producers and caterers?

For farmers & growers: Access to public sector contracts, regardless of size and supply volume
For caterers & food procurers: Access to sustainable, local producers and suppliers – including organic and agroecological farms.
Flexibility to complement existing procurement frameworks to facilitate food system transformation.
Transparency of food environmental data: enabling informed choices, educating consumers, and meeting ESG goals.
Efficiency via tech enabled collaboration, reliability, value, fairness and data.
Impact in delivering more healthy, sustainable produce to public sector kitchens and expanding local economic benefits in the surrounding area.
Reassurance through a pre-verified supply chain.
Resilience to reduce impact of shocks via more short, local supply chains.

How does it work?

Through a powerful collaboration between Soil Association and AgileChain technology, we are developing greater fork to farm links.

Food for Life Supply Chain+ offers producers a reliable and fair route to market; and caterers a more resilient, efficient and transparent approach to the procurement of sustainable and nutritious food.

The aim is more sustainable and nutritious produce cooked and consumed in public sector kitchens
